Progressive rock gods Rush has just celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2014 with a Blu-Ray box set titled "R40", spanning all four decades of the trio's career.
Despite no official confirmation, their guitarist Alex Lifeson has been hinting that the band would tour in 2015 and it appears that it will push through.
Here's an interview of the "2112" guitarist with Swedish based magazine Red Hot Rock.
- When asked about plans of touring and the future of the band:
"Yeah. You know, you're right. We're on holiday and we sort of decided when the tour ended that we weren't really gonna think about what we were going to do for at least a year. We really needed to take a break. We were working pretty steadily for a lot of years, but particularly the last four or five years. And we really needed an opportunity to clear our heads and catch our breaths. We haven't discussed it too much, but that's just us. All around us, everybody's making plans for us. And it looks like we'll probably be going out next spring. Spring, 2015. So, we haven't discussed anything about the show or about the material or any of that stuff. But we're sort of aiming towards that as the start date for the next tour. But that'll be, I guess, our 41st anniversary tour or 40th plus, whatever. And we'll see how it goes. We need to stay healthy until then, though. Ha ha."
A blog dedicated to the group called "Rush Is A Band" reports that dates of a tour have recentry appeared on the Ticketmaster website - TD Bank Garden in Boston on June 23 and at the Madison Square Garden in New York on June 29. The dates have been pulled down the website since the blog's initial report.
In the meantime, here are more details of Rush's "R40" box set from Broadway World:
"With the release of multi-platinum Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Rush's self-titled 1974 debut this past April, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) kicked off its own celebration of the legendary Canadian prog-rock band's 40th anniversary since that first album. In 2015, vocalist/bassist/keyboardist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil Peart, who joined the band in July, 1974, shortly after the release of that first album and two weeks before the group's inaugural U.S. tour, will see the reissue of the remaining 14 albums in their Mercury catalog in chronological order, starting with Fly By Night, which will be available in high-quality vinyl with a download code for a 320kbps MP4 vinyl ripped Digital Audio album download; high resolution Digital Audio editions in DSD (2.8mHz), 192khz / 24-bit, 96kHz / 24-bit; and an additional Blu-Ray Pure Audio version with 96kHz / 24-bit 5.1 surround sound and stereo, on January 27. A Farewell to Kings and Signals are the other two albums which will be reissued in Blu-Ray Pure Audio."
