Jennifer Jason Leigh is confirmed to be the new cast member of ABC's Revenge for season 2 in the highly coveted role of Emily Thorne's mysterious mom, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
The former "Single White Female" actress will take up the role of the mother, who was believed to be dead for many years. However, she was revealed to be alive in a video tape uncovered by Emily (Emily Van Camp) in the season finale. The storyline left fans in suspense and opened the way for Jennifer Jason Leigh to now join "Revenge" and add to the drama as Emily's long lost mother.
Leigh, 50, previously appeared in the 1982 comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High, as Tom Hanks' doomed wife in 2002's Road to Perdition and has recurred on Weeds for three seasons, playing Nancy's sister, Jill. Leigh joins British actor Barry Sloane, who will also be introduced in Season 2 as a man connected to Emily's past.
Leigh's was born Jennifer Leigh Morrow, but later changed her last name early on in her acting career, taking the middle name Jason in honor of actor Jason Robards, a family friend. Leigh's parents were Jewish, of Russian descent on her father's side
Revenge moves to Sundays at 9/8c when it returns for its second season this fall on ABC.
