Following the success of the 2013 film "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones", talks of a TV series adaptation surfaced online, complete with release date and other details including the original cast reprising their role on the small screen.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Martin Moszkowicz head of Constantin film and TV shared: "It actually makes sense to do the novels as a TV series. There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the 'Mortal Instruments' film. In the series we'll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth."

Constantin confirmed the "The Mortal Instruments" TV series as production has been set to begin next year for at least two or three international shows, reports Variety. While the plot of "The Mortal Instruments" TV series has yet to be confirmed including the release date, producers are said to have the entire six books of "The Mortal Instruments" fantasy novel adapted into the TV series.

Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" is a series of six novels, with the first published in 2007 and the last in 2014. The film adaption in 2013 which focused on the first book "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" may have gotten a relatively low critical response but did well in the box office, even ranking no. 3 as "the highest ranked new release" according to the report by Deadline.

"The Mortal Instruments" film adaptation stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey and Aidan Turner. Whether or not these stars will reprise their roles for the "The Mortal Instruments" TV series remains to be uncovered as plot has yet to be revealed.

There are reports that upon "The Mortal Instruments" TV series release date, creators will introduce new faces to the characters portrayed by Collins and the original cast, and there are news that reveal that "The Mortal Instruments" TV series will begin where the movie left off-all of which remain to be officially confirmed. For now, all we know is that "The Mortal Instruments" TV series is in the works, and production begins in 2015.
