When Allen Leech was in Canada previously, he was 20-years-old and worked at a bar in Vancouver called Shenanigans. Ironically, he considers that period to be the best time of his life.
However, we think that the 33-year-old might be overdoing things considering the massive popularity he enjoys at the moment as Tom Branson.
Tom, a former chauffeur marries into aristocracy in PBS's primetime show Downton Abbey, whose season 5 resumes on January 4, 2015.
Allen has become a household name along with the show, at a global platform, and the entire star cast and production team deserves credit.
"Sometimes I tend to forget the kind of popularity and reach Downton Abbey enjoys, only to be reminded by random fans who ask to take pictures when I am out with friends at the bar. The feeling is very special and lovely." Allen revealed. "However, the feeling is very different in different parts of the world. In North America, the people are very enthusiastic while, in Britain, people will cross the streets and approach you just to let you know that they don't watch your show." He added.
Downton Abbey showcases the lives of the Crawleys and their supporters as they bring changes to post-Edwardian England. "The primary reason behind Downton Abbey resonating with people is the aristocracy that everybody can relate to. The class system is portrayed diligently, and the viewers can understand the actual happenings behind the high walls of the palace." Allen adds.
"I was visiting Germany recently and ended up watching an episode dubbed in German. Downton Abbey is very popular in that part of the world too. The class hierarchy is what unites people across the globe." However, Downton Abbey airs a few months earlier in Europe and then in America. Hence, the cast needs to be careful not to divulge secrets prematurely.
"I constantly keep getting trouble over spoilers as I keep forgetting that a huge part of the global population is yet to watch what is in store on the show." Allen adds. "We talk about the scenario as a cast and wonder why the episodes cannot air simultaneously. The production team must have valid reasons though!"
