Are you annoyed with your iPhone? The Canada-based company Blackberry is offering iPhone owners up to $550 for exchanging their iPhone for the new Blackberry Passport. The new smartphone is actually shaped and sized in the form of a passport, CNN said in a report.
It's hard to imagine Apple's extremely loyal customer base jumping ship, but that is what BlackBerry hopes in its newest BlackBerry Passport promotion. The trade-in value actually differs depending on the customer's iPhone model. BlackBerry offers as much as $400 for an iPhone 6 and an additional $150 top-up that comes included for all models. The iPhone 4s has the lowest value at $90, making the total offer $240. That means a customer will only have to pay $460 to get a Passport if he trades in his fully functional iPhone 4s. Other models eligible for trade-in include the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.
CNN report that the program is expected to run till February 13, 2015 and will cover only customers in the United States and Canada who are buying through Amazon and the Shop BlackBerry websites. In Canada, the top-up is C$200.
Market analysts said by the program Blackberry is trying to compete directly with Apple mobile. The once-popular Canadian mobile phone manufacturer has been struggling on the market for quite a while.
The company just announced white and red versions of the Passport so a choice is now available as before it was only available in the black model. It has a 4.5-inch display, 32 MB memory and 13 megapixel shooter.
BlackBerry Chief Operating Officer Marty Beard said about the passport, "optimal for reading complex documents, looking at images, looking at, for example, a PowerPoint." He added, "it's a beautiful screen that allows you, again, to be very productive."
