Floyd Mayweather Jr. Vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Won't Happen, Columnist Explains Why And He May Be Right

| By

The long awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is about to happen, that is if you will listen to what the media and the two fighters' camp are saying.

However, for a columnist with the New York Daily News, the mega fight will not happen. Although the undefeated Floyd has been very vocal with his desire to fight the Filipino rival and vice versa, Bob Raissman believes the highly requested bout will be all but a dream because of what is going on behind the camera.

In his article posted on December 20, he said that the efforts to negotiate for Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao Fight is bloodier than what people will see on the ring. He is talking about the corporations that would do everything to land the deal for the battle between this generation's most popular boxers.

"It is this: Those doing the business of boxing are consumed with winning the negotiation, screwing the other guy at all costs. The battle to negotiate a mega fight is bloodier than what happens inside the ring," Raissman wrote in his article titled "Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight still a pipe dream."

The New York Daily News writer even quoted a former HBO executive who is also pessimistic about the talks for Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao fight.

"I wouldn't spend one minute working on it (a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight) because it's not going to happen. I believe Floyd doesn't want the fight," said Seth Abraham, the former HBO Sports boss who successfully navigated through many booby-trapped negotiating mazes while at the network. "Why go through the heartache and high blood pressure when you know the fight won't happen."

One of those jumping on the "lucrative" Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao fight is a business group from the United Arab Emirates. The business group offered the American fighter $120 million to agree to do the fight in their country.

"The media has been speculating the offer has gone up $10 million to a guaranteed $120 million, and they're right," said M. Akbar Muhammad, pesident and chief operating officer of Akbar Productions, LLC of New Jersey.
