Mayim Bialik, who portrays the socially maladjusted neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler for the past two seasons in "The Big Bang Theory" received her first Emmy nod, for Supporting Comedy Actress on Thursday.
Bialik, who has two children with husband Michael Stone, was in Atlanta when she heard the news about her Emmy nomination. How is the "Big Bang Theory" actress going to celebrate the nod?
"We're taking our boys to Legoland here in Atlanta and my best friend said she would buy me two vegan cupcakes today!" Bialik told Entertainment Weekly.
When her oldest son asked what all the fuss was about, Mayim Bialik used President Barack Obama as an analogy. "Just like President Obama had to be nominated before he won to be president, I got nominated for something." And he said, "Like the Grammys?" I said, "Yes, like the Grammys but for actors."

Bialik's Emmy nomination is just one of three for "Big Bang Theory." Bialik's on-screen boyfriend, Jim Parsons, is up for best actor in a comedy series - an award he's won the past two years. The show is also up for a best comedy series Emmy.
When asked how she felt about fellow co-star Jim Parson's nomination, she said "Honestly, I was assuming he would be; for me it's such a no-brainer."
"But that's what my publicist said, she said not only were me and Jim nominated, but also our show, which is really great - it's our second year of being nominated," Bialik added.
In real life, Bialik is also just as smart as her character. She has an a PhD and a best-selling author on the ins and outs of attachment parenting.
