Jaycee, Son Of Jackie Chan Charged With Serious Drug Offense; The Hong Kong Superstar Publicly Apologizes Over Son’s Indictment

Recently, Chinese prosecutors have indicted the son of Jackie Chan on the charge of sheltering others to take drugs, Daily Mail reports.

Aljazeera added that the announcement on Monday did not mention when a trial would be held, but if Jaycee Chan will be convicted he could face up to three years in jail.

The singer- actor Jaycee Chan along with his companion Ko Chen-tung, a Taiwanese actor also known as Kai Ko, both tested positive for marijuana.

According to Xinhua, Kai Ko admitted using the drug at Chan's home, and that 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of it were from Jackie Chan's son.

Kai Ko, was released after a 14-day administrative detention for the drug use, but Chan has remained in detention and could face more serious criminal charges.

After four months in detention, Jackie Chan's son Jaycee is now charged with drug offense by a Chinese prosecutor in Beijing. He may now face severe punishment for the crimes being accused to him, IBTimes reports.

Meanwhile, Jackie Chan who served as a goodwill spokesman for the China National Anti-Drug Committee in 2009, and promotes anti-drug education; publicly apologizes over son's arrest.

The "Kung Fu" actor wrote, "Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked," Jackie Chan wrote on his website in August. "As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken." He continued: "I would like to take this opportunity to say to Jaycee: you've done something wrong and you have to be responsible for the consequences," he wrote. "I'm your dad and I'll always be with you. We will face the road ahead of us together. I should also take some of the responsibility because as his dad, I didn't teach him well. Therefore, on behalf of Jaycee and myself, I extend our deepest apologies to everyone for the negative impact this has caused on society."
