Just recently, it is announced that NBC TV series Constantine will be moved to a better time slot once it returns on January 16. According to the show's official Twitter account, the show will now air every 8pm before Grimm instead of 10pm. This is such a welcome news for many fans because they deem that 10pm is a bit late and that that particular time slot pits the show to established shows from other networks.
The future of Constantine TV series, like whether it will get a second season, is still up in the air. For its main star Matt Ryan who plays the title role, going after a larger following is not really their priority. What they are after is a cult fan base.
"Yeah, I think so. With this kind of genre of shows, you want a cult fan base. Even though it is kind of mainstream, that's the type of audience we want to build around it," Ryan told in an interview with Mirror when asked if they are copying The Originals' marketing strategy. The Vampire Diaries spin-off series stars Joseph Morgan who is a friend to the Constantine TV series star.
As for the danger of getting Constantine TV series cancelled after just one season, Matt Ryan said that he handles that pressure by just working hard.
"All I can do is do what's in my control - which is go to work every day and do the best job I can. It takes a while to build an audience, especially a cult audience. You just hope the network sticks around long enough for the show to grow into what it can be and for the audience to find an audience," the Constantine series star said.
He also hinted that NBC is pulling for Constantine TV series to give more through its remaining episodes.
"It seems to me, from the little I know, that networks are sticking with it more than they used to. With all the other platforms [like recording], even if the ratings aren't good on the night, the +3 and +7 ratings really do count."
Aside from Matt Ryan, Constantine also stars Angelica Celaya as Zed Martin, Charles Halford as Chas Chandler, and Harold Perrineau as Manny.
