It's confession time for the girl from the Creek. More than 10 years has passed since it ended, since Katie Holmes, James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson said their farewells on the last episode of the WB series "Dawson's Creek". But the actress still carries a bit of Joey Potter, the role she played on the show, wherever she goes.
"I don't know if I have moved past it, but I don't really care," the actress admitted in an interview for "Elle Canada" about her past role on the teen drama. "I had a ball doing it, and it's really nice to be a part of something that did affect people."
She revealed that it had affected her too, noting that the 5-year show "created a lot of opportunities" for all the actors. "You can't really ask for much more than that," she added.
Indeed, it is very rare for opportunities like "Dawson's Creek" to arrive. "It's a very hard business," the single mother (to only child with previous husband Tom Cruise, Suri) said. "You have to work hard every day and hope for the best. Sometimes offers are flying in, and sometimes they're not."
The 36-year-old actress is currently getting ready for her directorial debut, a film adaptation of Annie Weathermax's book entitled "All We Had". "There aren't as many movies being made, period, so the challenge is to create projects for yourself," Holmes explained.
With that said, the spokesperson for Olay admitted that she does not quite consider herself to be an ambitious person. "I think ambition is a wonderful thing, but I see a lot of people who might be a little more ambitious [than me]; I just do what I do and go home," she told the magazine. "I have a balanced life. I like having different experiences, and I like being inspired."
