The 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday morning, and to the surprise of probably no one in the business, or even television viewers, AMC's drama "Mad Men" got the most nominations, along with the new series "American Horry Story."
Both "Mad Men" and "American Horror Story" received 17 Emmy nominations, including best drama series and best miniseries or television movie, respectively.
New shows that received nominations include HBO's two new hit comedies, "Girls" and "Veep," as listed on the Emmy website. Their stars, "Girls" creator Lena Dunham and previous Emmy-winner Julia Louis-Dryfus, are up for lead actress in a comedy this year. Zooey Deschanel's FOX comedy "New Girl" also got recognition, for both her and the comedy.
Emmy favorite "Modern Family" once again received a best comedy nomination, and every single one of their adult actors got nominations in the supporting roles.
