Nearly a decade after "Finding Nemo" was first released, a sequel is now in the pipe works and is slated to be released in 2016.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, original director Andrew Stanton will be returning to do the sequel to his huge Disney-Pixar underwater hit.

Stanton recently made his live-action directing debut with the poorly received "John Carter."

"Finding Nemo," which featured the voices of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres and Willem Dafoe, among others, was a huge hit for Pixar and won the 2004 Oscar for best animated feature. Stanton and co-writers Bob Peterson and Andrew Reynolds were also nominated for best original screenplay.

"Finding Nemo" in 3D is will be hitting screens in September 14, 2012. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2004.

Meanwhile, "Toy Story 4" sequel is rumored to be in the works according to Twitter trends and a Disney-Pixar 2012 production lineup. While another "Finding Nemo" is due out soon, there is no word if Tom Hanks' Woody is heading back to the big screen.

At the end of the third installment when Andy drove off to college and gave his treasured toys to Bonnie for safe-keeping? It was classic and sounds like a good place for a fourth "Toy Story" to take over.

The "Toy Story 4" rumors about a project in the works could have also come from a Disney 2012 portfolio that mentioned several "Toons" in the lineup this year.
