Congratulations. It's Dickens' next big gig! After starring in "Gone Girl", along with well-renowned actors and actresses in Hollywood such as Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, and Neil Patrick Harris, actress Kim Dickens is ready for her next big part.
According to Variety, after playing the role of Detective Rhonda Boney in Gone Girl, the 49-year-old actress has now been cast in a spin-off of "The Walking Dead".
It was publicized that she will be playing the female lead in the spin-off series that is yet to be titled, alongside Cliff Curtis who will be playing the male lead. Other actors reported to also be included in the show are Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey.
The show that is often referred to as "Cobalt", is set at the beginning of a zombie apocalypse and so, will have a similar setting as the popular original series. However, they will differ in place. While "The Walking Dead" takes place in Georgia, the upcoming spin-off is expected to take place in California.
"Almost from the beginning of "The Walking Dead" on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world," AMC President Charlie Collier stated on September of this year. "In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it's the question I get asked the most. Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct. We're thrilled to be taking this next step with these remarkable partners."
Deadline reports that Dickens, who previously starred in "Sons of Anarchy", "Friday Night Lights" and "Lost", will be playing a guidance counselor with two kids on the upcoming series. It was revealed that her character is temporarily named Nancy Tompkins, and is dating the character of Dillane.
