Amy Adams chose to be the bigger person! She decided to stand her ground but this decision only cost her serious nationwide publicity.
The 40-year-old actress was initially scheduled to appear as a guest on the "Today Show" this week, but because she did not want to talk about a very steamy media topic, the show then decided to cancel her appearance.
It was reported that the NBC morning program informed Adams that she would be asked about the well-known hacks of Sony Pictures Entertainment, along with the other documents and details that were revealed.
Sources said that according to Adams, she did not want to talk about such matter and disclose anything about it and thus, the "Today Show" pulled her scheduled interview from the NBC morning program.
"Amy's segment was pulled very suddenly after she expressed that she'd rather not discuss the Sony hack," according to a source. "She was not aggressive or freaking out... It is unfortunate. Amy didn't do anything wrong and they pulled the interview."
"As a news program, the "Today Show" doesn't allow guests to put restrictions on interviews," a representative for the Today show responded with a statement. "In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made, and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview."
A source from the morning program stated, "As a professional courtesy, Amy and her team were told well in advance that she might get asked about Sony, and that it was entirely up to her whether she wanted to answer."
Even though the actress had little to say about regarding the subject, Adams was directly involved in the Sony leaks.
One of the several embarrassing revelations that were released was the one regarding the salaries that were given to the actors and actresses for their Oscar-winning film "American Hustle". Apparently, according to the emails from Sony's executives, it showed that two female actresses, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, were given a significantly lesser amount of salaries compared to their three other male co-stars, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner.
"We firmly stand behind Amy Adams," a representative for The Weinstein Company stated. The company is responsible for distributing Adams' movie "Big Eyes". "We've been lucky enough to have had her talents grace several of our films. We are certain her fellow actors and directors would all agree, she is nothing but the consummate professional both on and off set. Amy decided to speak up for herself and express her disappointment that Today would feel the need to ask her a question she did not feel comfortable, and rather than respect her opinion or continue the discussion, the reaction was to pull her appearance from the show."
