Reese Witherspoon Blames Divorce With Ex-Husband Ryan Phillippe For Movie Slump

| By

Reese Witherspoon opens up about her feelings on an interview with Charlie Rose that was aired on "60 Minutes" last Sunday, December 21.

Apparently, the 38-year-old actress has been in a whirlwind with regards to her careen and she has now revealed something about herself on her road from Hollywood's Oscar-winning little sweetheart to slumping star and then rose right back again. Now, with daring roles in front of as well as behind the screen.

The "Mud" star had reflected on the year she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her 2005 film "Walk the Line". In the following months, she and her husband of eight years, Hollywood hunk Ryan Phillippe, had split. The actress revealed to Rose, "Phew, that was a tough year that followed. "I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better." The two Hollywood actors have two children, 15-year-old Ava and 11-year-old son Deacon. There were speculations that the couple split because Phillippe had cheated with Australian star Abbie Cornish.

The actress continued, "You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is like scrambled eggs. I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working. It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there."

The star hit a blunder when she had a role in "Walk the Line" as June Carter Cash. She was critically met with harsh reactions. "I thought I was reading a profile on another actor, and somewhere at the end it said, you know, the people who are washed up, and at the end it included me." She continued, It really hurt my feelings, really hurt my feelings." But she climbed back again and a couple of years ago she had more exciting roles and went back to the dating scene and found her new husband Jim Toth.
