Blade Runner 2 Movie Confirmed By 'Prometheus' Director Ridley Scott; Harrison Ford Set To Reprise Role As Rick Deckard In Futuristic Sequel

| By

Ridley Scott says the Blade Runner 2 movie is happening. The original 1982 film follows Rick Deckard, played by Ford, in futuristic 2019 Los Angeles. Deckard is a Blade Runner, a police hunter of illegal human clones.

'Alien' director Ridley Scott has a lot on his plate. He recently put out Exodus: Gods and Monsters, starring Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton. Up next on his to-do list is The Martian, a movie that follows main character astronaut Mark Watney, who is stranded and assumed dead on mars. Scott describes it (via EW) "like Robinson Crusoe-if you were marooned or shipwrecked, how do you survive?"

He says that the film is ready to begin filming in November. "I think I'm going to shoot in Budapest," says Scott. "And we'll probably shoot in Wadi Rum for Mars. I like Wadi Rum-it's the best view I've ever seen of what could be Mars."

One of the most anticipated movies expected from Scott is the Blade Runner sequel. He obviously wants Harrison Ford to reprise his role. The sequel will be co-written with Hamton Fincher (who has worked with Scott previously in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) and Michael Green of Green Lantern.

Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, co-founders of Alcon put out this statement in May:

"We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project,"

The director says that the Blade Runner sequel "involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years-despite the accident,(referring to his injury sustained filming for the Star Wars movie)" adding "It's written and it's damn good,"

When asked if he will have enough time to squeeze in the highly anticipated Prometheus 2, the director responded "Probably after The Martian -- That's the problem, I've got a lot of ducks in a row. But they're all written."
