Orphan Black Season 3 released its second teaser video a few days ago with the tag line 'This is War.' Four of the original clones, all portrayed by Tatiana Maslany plus a young girl clone appeared in that clip but the one that ran away with the spot light is the male clone played by Ari Millen. As you can recall from the final episode of last season, it is revealed that male clones have been created by Castor Corp to serve in the army. Female clones like Sarah and Helena have already met some of their male counterparts but they were not aware they were just created on the laboratory.
There was not much details revealed about the male clones in that teaser that Orphan Black Season 3 released. To help you feed your curiosity, here is something from series creator Grareme Manson. In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Manson said that the male clones featured in the teaser video, as well as the first promotional photo, already has a name. And just like other characters, he has divided loyalties.
"Yep. The boy's name is Rudy. And obviously Rudy-or Scarface, as we call him in the writer's room-is not Mark, who is the other Castor clone that we've known before," when asked if the boy that Maslany's Sarah is talking to has a name," Manson said during an interview.
"So immediately that poses a bunch of questions for us: How are they different? How are they the same, these brothers? And what the heck is Mark up to? Is Mark a traitor? Is Mark undercover? Like everyone else on Orphan Black, Mark has divided loyalties."
Orphan Black Season 3 teaser video
According to the synopsis for Orphan Black Season 3 released a month ago, one storyline that it would tackle is the rise of male clones. Does this mean there will be a lot of them? Manson said it will remain as mystery.
"A few. Like our Leda clones, we don't like to introduce them lightly. We don't do a lot of red shirts. And I think that holds true with these guys. How many of them are there actually? Well, that's part of the mystery too."
Orphan Black Season 3 release is on April 18 next year. Actors returning for the BBC America show are Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Dylan Bruce, Evelyn Brochu, and more.
