Ratings performance of Fox TV series Gotham was not really that great for a show that had so much fan fare before it aired its first episode. However, as the season picks up, the Batman-inspired show's viewership became more solid. There's no confirmation of a second season yet. However, with this latest news, it looks like Gotham is up for a great future.
In its latest 30-day ratings report, Fox announced that Gotham TV series, currently on mid-season break, gained big in time-shifted viewing. It also said that the freshman show that stars Ben McKenzie and David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne is the biggest multiplatform ever. The Variety reported:
"For the season to date, the Batman origins story "Gotham" is Fox's biggest multiplatform mover, gaining 135% over its Live-Plus-Same Day average to reach 15.9 million viewers per episode. On just Fox.com, Hulu and cable VOD, "Gotham" picks up 3.3 million viewers from day 4 after premiere telecast through day 30,"
"That number is significant because Fox and other networks typically don't see any additional coin from advertisers once viewing of a program is done outside of the Live Plus 3 frame that is the basis for most TV ad pacts."
With Gotham TV series ratings going great, cast members have the fans to thank. In an exclusive video from Newsarama, Robin Lord Taylor and Jada Pinket Smith expressed how grateful they are of landing a role in the show.
"This experience has been one of the most amazing rides in my life," says Taylor who plays the scene-stealer Oswald 'Penguin' Cobblepot. "I never thought I'd be a part of something this big."
For Smith, who plays mob boss Fish Mooney, she treats her role in Gotham TV series as a wonderful gift.
"It's been a wonderful creative experience. And for me to play a character like Fish Mooney, which is unlike anything I've been able to do before, has really been a wonderful gift."
