It's official! Academy Award winner Jared Leto has been confirmed to play the Joker in the upcoming DC movie Suicide Squad! The singer/ actor was chosen to take on the iconic role of Heath Ledger six years ago, which truly made a mark in the comics history proven by Joker's new made-up face adapted from Ledger's character in the movie The Dark Knight.
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman will join the rest of Hollywood's young and old A-listers such as Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, to make up the team.
The 42-year old actor, known for his method acting and carefully choosing of movie roles, was asked last month if the rumor was true that he will be the new Joker for Suicide Squad film, but he neither confirmed nor denied the issue. Instead, he only admittted that he has been reading scripts but is not in a hurry to return to acting, since he is still busy with his band among other things. There was this little event called the Oscars that basically changed my life," Leto said. "I'm not really in a hurry to jump into another film unless it's something I can't say no to. I want to make sure it's special."
Moreover, in an interview by MTV about his band 30 seconds to Mars' documentary series "Into the Wild," Leto answered, "You know there's a film called Fight Club, my friend. And you know the first rule is, don't you? Enough said." He was pertaining to the line often quoted in the said movie in which "the rule of Fight Club is not to talk about Fight Club."
But now that it is confirmed, we look forward to how he is going to portray this DC major villain, and how it is going to be different with the rendering of Cesar Romero, Mark Hamill, Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger.
