Academy Award winner Celeste Holm has died at the age of 95, according to New York news station NY1.

Holm rose Broadway fame in "Oklahoma!" and won an Oscar in "Gentleman's Agreement" but whose last years were filled with financial difficulty and estrangement from her sons

The actress was admitted to New York's Roosevelt Hospital a week ago, but her husband took her home to her Manhattan home on Friday, said Amy Phillips, a great-niece of Holm's.

"She passed peacefully in her home in her own bed with her husband and friends and family nearby," she said. Holm died around 3:30 a.m. at her longtime apartment on Central Park West, Phillips said.

She was once president of the Creative Arts Rehabilitation Center, which treats emotionally disturbed people using arts therapies. Over the years, she raised $20,000 for UNICEF by charging 50 cents apiece for autographs.

Another strong role was that of the long-suffering wife of the playwright in the film classic about the stage, 1950's All About Eve, starring Bette Davis.

Funeral arrangements were not immediately available.
