The Redmond tech giant has been in the process of rebranding its Lumia phones without the Nokia label. The second Microsoft branded phone made its first appearance in China last June and recently launched in India Tuesday. It will be exclusively available at Microsoft Brand Store on Amazon and now available for pre-order.
The Lumia 638 in India will come with Cat. 4 LTE support for bands 3, 7, 38, 39, 40, and 41.
The Nokia Lumia 638 smartphone like the Chinese variant. Will sport a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) ClearBlack LCD display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and a pixel density o 221ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC and supported by a 1G of RAM. Camera wise, it features a 5-megapixel rear autofocu camera but sadly for those selfie lovers there's no front-facing camera.
It also offers users an 8GGB of built-in storage and expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update.
Microsoft Lumia 638 will also come bundled with an exclusive offer on Airtel 4G.
Reports also say that, "Consumers on Airtel postpaid in Bengaluru will get up to 5GB of free data on 4G for 2 months post activation of their Airtel connection on the new Lumia 638, and the offer will be available until March 31, 2015."
Meanwhile, the most anticipated project Maclaren or the upcoming Lumia 1030 has been cancelled.
As rumors suggest there are no upcoming Microsoft Lumia phones in 2015 that will appear at MWC or CES.
According to Christian Today, ""The canceled Nokia McLaren was under development for quite a while before it was leaked. However, the company reportedly decided to abruptly stop its development and cancel the product for no apparent reason."
