Last month, NBC announced they will no longer order more episodes for Constantine TV series. It said the DC Comics-based series will only air 13 episodes. This announcement has led to speculations that the freshman show based from Hellblazer got axed just like what happened to other NBC shows 'Bad Judge' and 'A to Z.' Although the network cleared that Constantine's case is different, fans can't help but to feel bad about the announcement made by the show's network.
Fans don't have anything to be worried about as for Matt Ryan who stars as the title role of the show developed by David Goyer. He is even confident that Constantine TV series will return because the comics character got a solid fan base.
"I am confident and I'm hopeful. There is a huge fanbase for the comics out there, and I don't really read press myself, but I'm on Twitter, and the feedback we've been getting from the fans is the show is getting stronger, finding our feet, and moving forward," Ryan said according to Wales Online.
Ryan, who hails from Swansea, Wales, also said that his TV series Constantine has the potential for Warner Bros., DC, and NBC.
"The show and what we have set up has such potential, and has such potential for Warner Bros. and DC and NBC.
"I'm a fan of the comics, and... I'm not done with this character. I don't feel like I've fleshed him out completely yet."
Constantine TV series is currently on a hiatus as it aired its eight episode on December 12. That episode, titled 'The Saint of Last Resorts' saw the show's ratings rise from the previous episode. Constantine episode nine will be called 'The Saint of Last Resorts Part 2' and will air on January 9 next year.
According to Deadline, show's renewal, or extension, will be judged based on its performance in the ratings game.
"NBC had to make a decision whether to keep Constantine in continuous production with little ratings information."
