Avengers 2 Age Of Ultron Director Joss Whedon Talks About New Character 'Vision'; Plot And Extended Trailer Inside!

Dec 17, 2014 10:11 PM EST | By Fred Yelland

Josh Whedon talks about new characters and his approach to making "Age of Ultron" compared to the first film. Screen Rant, in an exclusive interview sat down with the director of one of 2015's most anticipated movies:

"Um, yeah, the first one, I was a raggedy man when I made that film. It did take a lot out of me. Going in this time, I just had to sort of re-calibrate my entire existence and throw myself into it more wholeheartedly and say, okay, actually make it harder to make than the last one, and I'm gonna just invest myself in every part of it- in every production meeting, every location scout, and every question about a prop that I'd like to avoid, and every - I might even work harder on the script... There's nothing in it that I'm not going to be a part of - I'm gonna give myself up to it,  like a Christian to a lion. "

Whedon also talked about how the new character "The Vision" will look like:

No, we make them as close as we can. The stunt guy - we make allowances for the shape of his face and padding and things that we're putting on him but they're not meant to look different. Basically, what usually happens is, one of the guys, [concept artist] Ryan Meinerding or one of the guys on his staff draws something unbelievably beautiful, and we try to create that in real life, and it takes a long time [laughs]. The first tests were very Violet Beauregarde and it really took a long time to get to a place where we felt like - even though we will work on him in post - he walks on and we go, 'oh, it's The Vision - my God!"

Marvel has been at full force campaigning their sequel to 2012's record breaker, first releasing the official version of the trailer that aired during an episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on ABC.

Shortly after, an extended version of the trailer followed, showcasing the members dressed casually at the Avengers Tower participating in a challenge to lift Thor's hammer. Fan's also got a glimpse of the added characters, siblings Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, and the Avengers' greatest enemy yet, Ultron (voiced by James Spader).

A second extended trailer has now surfaced, albeit identical to the previous extended trailer. This version however, gives a bit more footage focused on the heroes, not to mention a new character yet to be revealed played by South Korean actress Kim Soo Hyun AKA Claudia Kim. A few articles have already appeared online speculating which character the South Korean beauty will play.

Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" stars Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Iron Man along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk and Chris Hemsworth as the demigod Thor. Joining them are S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Black Widow played by Scarlett Johannson and Hawkeye played by Jeremy Renner. Completing the team are fellow agents Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson and Agent Maria Hill played by Cobie Smulders. The Avengers must once again reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a rogue byproduct of Stark Industries, hell bent on destroying the human race. They will also encounter new characters; siblings Wanda Maximoff and Pietro Maximoff as well as their new ally, The Vision, played by Paul Bettany.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in theaters on May 1, 2015.
