Homeland Season 4 Episode 11, titled Krieg Nicht Lieb, gave the show it's eight consecutive season high according to Entertainment Weekly. That episode, which will be the second to the last before the Showtime drama go on a mid-season break featured Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) hunting down Haqqani, the terrorist who killed some of CIA agents and his own nephew Aayan.
The EW wrote:
"Homeland's recent ratings growth continued Sunday with a penultimate episode that delivered the thriller's biggest audience of the season. Showtime's espionage drama had 2.1 million viewers - the eighth consecutive season high for the show. It also marks Showtime's most-watched telecast of the year."
One of the most impressive scenes in Homeland Season 4 episode 11 was the protest which was incinerated by Quinn in hopes to draw out Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar). It was a difficult scene to shot given the number of extras involved. Director Clark Johnson, who oversaw four episodes on the show before, said that they just let loose on that scene and hoped to capture the most important.
"I just sort of shot it out of my a-," Johnson told in an interview with Variety after the last Homeland Season 4 episode aired. "It was not like we had a big shot-list situation. We just had to be there on the ground with all these people milling around. We had to think it through on the fly."
Johnson also spoke about Peter Quinn's scene where he has to shift emotions in every sequence.
"That's an emotional roller coaster to be up and down like that and do all that we need to do to make our day (of production)," the director said.
The last Homeland Season 4 episode of 2014 will air on December 21. The hit drama stars Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson.
