Twitter has created a special timeline on different events of 2014. On Wednesday, Twitter released its annual list of the events and personalities that attracted the most attention on the social network where people circulate more than 500 million messages, photos and links every day.
Among this huge amount of tweets of 2014, Twitter bring the most eventful trends by using the hashtag (#) in the timeline.
For knowing the events of 2014 together, Twitter authority made a hashtag #YearOnTwitter. This timeline highlights of this year's most frequently repeat (RT) of tweets.
If anyone think that Twitter is a place where only serious news is discussed, this list should change their mind. As the so-called "Golden Tweet" of 2014 came from Ellen DeGeneres, whose star-studded selfie at the Oscars was re-tweeted more than 3.3 million times. Her famous Oscar photo was retweeted by people in 151 countries.
Beside this, one of the biggest Tweeting time of 2014 was the World Cup. Football fans unleashed a flurry of 618,725 tweets per minute. Overall, there were 672 million tweets sent by fans, players and teams during the month of World's biggest show.
During the event of Nigerian girls kidnapping incident, protests were made by the hasgtag #BringBackOurGirls. This was the most used hashtag of the year. #BringBackOurGirls were used for about two weeks after more than 200 girls were kidnapped in Nigeria by the terrorist group Boko Haram.
