Big Brother 2012 episode 1 aired on last night, Thursday, July 12. It was the first episode of Big Brother 14, revealing the 16 new houseguests that would be spending the summer on CBS. Right from the get-go, there was drama left, right and center.
As with past seasons, the 12 newbies entered the house, rushing to take ownership of a bed. As normal, there are always 16 contestants, so this season, four veteran Big Brother contestants joined them.
The four “Big Brother” alums that joined host Julie Chen and returned as coaches are: “Big Brother: All-Stars” winner Mike "Boogie", Janelle, “Big Brother 10” winner Dan, and “Big Brother 12” cast member Britney. Each coach picked three contestants to mentor throughout the season. The winning coach will walk away with $100,000.
After all 16 people had hung out for a little while; Julie Chen announced that one of the new houseguests would be getting eliminated before the end of the night. Before a competition could take place though, the four coaches had to do a draft to decide which players would join them.
They started by playing a game in order to eliminate one from the loosing team at the end of the game. "Team Britney" members include Shane, Willie, Jojo; "Team Mike Boogie" members are Frank, Ian, Jenn; "Team Janell" is comprised of Will, Ashley and Joe and "Team Dan" includes Kara, Danielle and Jodi.
As the winning coach, Britney had to pick the HOH from her team and she chose Willie. As the coach of the last place team, Dan had to choose someone to send home. It was a tough decision, but Dan ended up sending Jodi home.
The "Big Brother" house is fitted with 53 cameras and 98 microphones to record every move of the contestants, 24 hours a day. Each week, the houseguests will vote someone out of the house. At the end, the last remaining house guest will receive the grand prize of $500,000.
The next episode airs Sunday night, July 15, at 8 p.m.
