The highly anticipated Apple iPhone 5 has everyone guessing when the official release date will be. According to a tech news site on Friday, that release date may be coming sooner than we hoped.
According to KnowYourMobile, Apple's iPhone 5 announcement will come less than a month away, on Aug. 7. The iPhone 5 announcement will be made when the company makes a keynote speech on the same date, the site says.
The website cites a "reliable industry source who wishes to remain anonymous." According to the story, a source claims Apple will make a "keynote speech on August 7" to unveil the much-anticipated device, but apparently provided little else detail.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 is said to be already available for pre-orders from a Chinese e-commerce site on Thursday. The site even had very photorealistic renderings of the iPhone 5, but shortly after, it was discovered to be a "fake" iPhone 5.
The same website that is placing the official release date as Aug. 7, said earlier in July, that the Apple's next-generation iPhone could be launching two months ahead of schedule in August, speculating that this could be to stifle the success of Samsung's Galaxy S3. The site attributed this information from a source in Asia.
No new information was offered about the specs, design or availability. Several other tech sites cite sources that say the new iPhone will have an aluminum two-tone back panel and a larger 4-inch Retina display, as well as an NFC chip and a next-gen processor setup.
The iPhone 5 will also be the debut device for the next version of Apple's iOS operating system, iOS 6.
Apple is well known for keeping company and product secrets well, so we'll just have to wait and see if the iPhone 5 does in face drop on Aug.7.
