While fans are eagerly waiting for the release of PS4 Slim, information on release date remains on a vague 2016 or 2017. Sony confirms that development is steady but keeps mum about details, generating even more buzz on rumored specs and update of the highly anticipated console.
Only a year after the release of PlayStation 4, fans have been clamoring for the PS4 Slim version already and Sony is on high demand worldwide. As PlayStation 4 has only been released last year, fans who are contemplating to buy their consoles are now plagued with the idea that they might want to purchase the upcoming PS4 Slim when it comes, so therefore holding back in buying the PlayStation 4. But with an unconfirmed release date for PS4 Slim, the problem continues on.
According to reports online, Sony is eyeing either a 2016 or 2017 release date for PS4 Slim. While there isn't official announcement on release date yet, rumors that Sony will officially announce the details including release date and console updates of PS4 Slim in the upcoming E3 2015.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3) 2015 will be held from June 16 to 18, 2015 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will feature numerous gaming updates, hopefully (reportedly) including Sony's PS4 Slim announcement.
Until E3 2015, fans will have to wait for the official specs of the much awaited PS4 Slim. However, upon the release date of PS4 Slim, specs rumors revealed online shows that as this console will obviously have a smaller, more sleek built, but definitely more in power.
The hardware will be improved, reportedly with a new SSD drive replacing the HDD standard to optimize 1080p resolution of newest titles. Another rumored specs of the upcoming PS4 Slim is that it might not include a Blu-Ray drive to accommodate a more compact design and to support digital purchase of titles.
As for the PS4 Slim release date, if indeed Sony will be able to announce the console during E3 2015, then it is likely that they will be ready for release in a few months within 2016. Hopefully we hear more official news about the production soon.
