An Oregon woman has filed a lawsuit against hit singer Justin Bieber this week, citing that the loud screams of the fans at a 2010 concert left her with permanent ear damage, reported TMZ on Friday.
The woman, Stacey Wilson Betts, will be suing Bieber for $9.23 million for the physical damage her ear suffered as a result of taking her daughter to one of the singer's shows in Portland, Ore., on July 14, 2012, noted TMZ.
Betts cited that the screaming fans in the arena were very loud, noted the lawsuit document acquired by TMZ this week, but was made much worse when Bieber climbed into a "heart-shaped aluminum/steal gondola" to perform a song. The gondola in question was then pulled out into the crowd, said Betts, and fans went to hysterics over it, becoming louder than they were before.
The gondola, noted Betts, made "sound conductor creating a sound blast that permanently damaged both of my ears," reported TMZ.
In the lawsuit, Betts noted that Bieber's presence and overall performance "created a wave like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena. Then [he] enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion."
As a result of attending the concert with her daughter two years ago, Betts said that she now suffers from perpetual tinnitus, which causes a constant pulsing or ringing in the year, said TMZ. That is one of the ear-related damages Betts complained of in her lawsuit.
In addition to suing Bieber himself, the lawsuit lists that the other parties being sued include the singer's label, Island Deaf Jam Records, and the companies that own the Rose Quarter where the concert took place, including Vulcan Sports and Entertainment, and AEG Worldwide.
So far Bieber has not commented on the lawsuit, nor have any of the other parties involved.
