(Watch out for Revenge Season 4 spoiler)
Revenge Season 4 winter finale called Atonement killed Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman). It was a bold move for the show knowing how big Daniel's role is in Emily Thorne's (Emily VanCamp) quest to bring down his mother Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe). Taking this path probably took time before getting approved. Well, looks like it is a well-thought development that showrunner Sunil Nayar risked his cards on. In an interview with TV Line, he said that he and Bowman agreed on that sequence right before Revenge Season 4 started.
"Josh [Bowman] and I spoke at the beginning of the season about the journey we wanted to take Daniel on," Nayar explain shortly after the airing of Revenge Season 4 episode 10.
"He and I were on the same page, wanting to take a big swing at the end of our winter finale, and wanting to see if we could do it in a redemptive way; that moment between [Emily and Daniel] was so beautiful at the end. It was also a way for us to keep shifting what the show (Revenge) is about so we never get complacent and the audience never knows what's coming next."
For Bowman, he thinks the way Revenge Season 4 episode 10 ended is the best way possible for his character to exit.
"We're on our fourth season, and this is a show where that can happen at anytime. I think it was a good decision for the story, and I think it'll definitely serve its purpose to help the writers move forward. A death on this show can impact all the other characters; Daniel's will definitely have a big impact on Victoria, Emily - and Margaux, of course, because of our little baby on the way," he told TV Line in a separate interview.
Although Daniel is already dead, fans will still see him in the next Revenge Season 4 episodes through flashbacks.
