Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's divorce settlement and custody battle may have been resolved swiftly and quietly, but new details are emerging that show that Holmes was distressed before sending the divorce papers to Cruise.
"They've spoken over the last few weeks. Nicole has been supportive, saying she's been through it too and to hang in there," the report says. During this time, Holmes had a disposable phone which she may have used to reach out to Kidman without Cruise finding out.
Holmes also used this throwaway phone to call her lawyers,according to the LA Times, allowing her to prepare her legal case without Cruise and his staff finding she was about to leave the marriage. By the time a deal was struck last Friday to end the marriage, she hired three law firms in three states.
This has led to speculation over why Holmes used a disposable phone to reach out to a friend, would there have been consequences if Cruise had found out? If the marriage was already in trouble, surely the divorce couldn't have left him blindsided as it appears.
On the bright side, Cruise and Holmes have reached a divorce settlement - details have not been released - and Holmes will now have primary custody of her 6-year-old daughter, Suri, but Cruise will have a "meaningful relationship" with his child.
