After Capcom finally announced the "exclusivity" of Street Fighter V to PlayStation 4, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said that it's just business, and explained to Xbox One users:
"Business deals happen. We won't do all of them. When we have a first party franchise in a genre I'd rather invest in ours," Spencer said on Twitter, when asked what he thought of the announcement.
And then tweeted, "I agree, there is a mix of deals to do but making sure we own IP XBOX gamers love is critical imo."
"I'd love it if Xbox fans could play all of the games, but business just makes some deals happen," said. "It's all part of competition."
Following his earlier statements, Spencer vowed to "make amends" to Xbox One fans.
He responds on Twitter to a fan who said they could forget about Street Fighter V not coming to Xbox One if Microsoft would deliver a new Banjo-Kazooie or Conker game, Spencer replied:
"Love the idea of game franchise bartering, I'll work on making amends for SF," he said.
Though, Spencer did not share any further details regarding how he'll go about making it up to fans.
Spencer's comments renew memories of the issue surrounding Microsoft's deal with Square Enix to make the next major Tomb Raider game an Xbox One exclusive. The difference between that deal and the Sony Street Fighter deal, is that Rise of the Tomb Raider, which will be release next year, is a timed Xbox One exclusive.
After the trailer of the game Street Fighter V has leaked, official announcements then made by Capcom and Playstation during Sony's PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas that the game will be available only for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The game will support cross-platform play, while its release date is still unknown.
