'The Voice' Coach Pharrell Williams Gets A Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame!

| By

"Happy" is an understatement on how Pharrell Williams must have felt when he became the 2,537th recipient of the star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame last December 4. The multi-talented singer-songwriter and record producer was honored for his success of winning seven (7) grammy awards, as well as selling more than one hundred million copies of his productions.

Williams, wearing a bright colored jacket from his own line, Billionaire Boys Club, with matching red Chanel boots, brought with him his wife Helen Lasichanh and son Rocket when he accepted his award. His good friend, Ellen DeGeneres, was also there to present his award and to give a speech.

The famous talk show host revealed that she opted to write a poem in honor of her friend Williams. "I thought if I write a poem he could possibly write a song out of it and we could both make money," DeGeneres jokingly remarked. She then went on to say how "lucky" she was to have Pharrell as her friend. "You have made such an imprint on music and on people's lives. It's not just because you are a brilliant singer, songwriter, and musician, it's because you are a kind soul. There is only one Pharrell and I am so proud and lucky to call him my friend," DeGeneres said.

The 41-year old rapper and fashion designer also gave a touching speech as he received his star during the ceremony. He said, "You can have talent, and you can have skill, but if you don't have the people to nurture you and support your creativity, it means nothing. And it often, in most cases, is wasted."

Pharrell's viral song "Happy" is among this year's top selling songs on iTunes, along with Disney's Frozen. It is also named as the "most downloaded song" in the UK for this year 2014.
