Rumors surfaced that two of Tom Cruise's ex-wives, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, have bonded in recent years, where the elder of the two became supportive of Holmes during her decision to divorce Cruise in late June.
"They've spoken over the last few weeks," a confidante told the new Us Weekly of Holmes and Kidman, 45. "Nicole has been supportive, saying she's been through it too and to hang in there."
The source in question said that Holmes and Kidman had been friends for a while, speaking as early as during 2006, when Holmes first married Cruise in Italy. Word from the sources said that Kidman was there throughout the years to offer support and help during Holmes' marriage to Cruise, which crumbled when she announced the divorce to the world on June 30 of this year.
"She has been a private friend not many people know about," the source told Us Weekly. "Nicole offered her support and help. She told Katie her life is great now and she has no regrets. "
It is also being claimed that during the secret phone calls Holmes made weeks prior to her divorce to Cruise, she was talking to Kidman. The Los Angeles Times got word that Holmes used a separate disposable and secret phone, acquired by her team, to make calls about setting up divorce proceedings against Cruise, and had been doing so for weeks.
Cruise and Holmes are currently battling out the custody decision for six-year-old daughter Suri. Holmes filed an injunction stating she wanted full custody of Suri in New York City, while Cruise is going for joint custody, filed in California. Their representatives said that their religions did not factor into the divorce; Cruise is a Scientologist, Holmes a Catholic.
"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents," Cruise and Holmes said in a statement.
