Fargo Season 2 cast has been identified. In a report by entertainment website Deadline, it is revealed that movie veteran Kirsten Dunst and Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons were tapped to play the lead roles for the second season of the critically-acclaimed miniseries from FX.
Deadline wrote about Fargo Season 2 casting:
"FX has started to build the cast for the second installment of Fargo, its miniseries franchise based on the cult Coen brothers movie. Kirsten Dunst and Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons are the first actors to close deals for co-starring roles in Fargo's 10-episode new chapter, is set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, SD and Luverne, MN, where a young State Police Officer Lou Solverson, recently back from Vietnam, will tackle an all new "true crime" case."
Fargo Season 2 cast will need to do a better job to match or surpass the success of their first season counterparts like Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, and Martin Freeman. For his role as Lorne Malvo, Thornton was nominated as Best Actor at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards and more. Tolman was also nominated for Best Actress. As a whole, Fargo TV series got a total of 32 nominations from various award giving bodies.
For the new Fargo season, Dunst and Plemons will play a different role compared to the actors from first season. Deadline further wrote that the 32-year old actress, known for lead roles in Spiderman franchise and The Virgin Suicides, will play housewife to the Breaking Bad alum's character.
"Dunst will play Peggy Blomquist, a small-town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants as she struggles with traditional societal expectations. She shares her home with her husband Ed (Plemons), a butcher's assistant, who wants to be supportive of his wife's self-discovery, even if he doesn't quite understand it."
