Kathy Griffin Says Replacing Joan Rivers on Fashion Police Is Hard

| By

Kathy Griffin will have a huge spot to feel.

Apparently, Griffin is already feeling the pressure of the challenge to fill the shoes of the beloved Fashion police host Joan Rivers who passed away just this year.

The 54-year-old comedienne was given the privilege to be filling in the post of Rivers, which is a very hard job, considering that Rivers had done an excellent work in the show. Rivers was known for her silver tongue and her straight to the point tactics. Her brazen personality helped keep the show alive and very interesting. Even though she had to make hard decisions and criticize lots of celebrities, she was well loved by the public and highly respected by the people in Hollywood for the work. In the end, she was given a funeral that's very star studded, something that Rivers would have wanted.

Now, Kathy Griffin admitted in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday, December 9 that "This was a job that was held by our dear friend Joan Rivers. I understand I have some very, very large shoes to fill."

The late Rivers had led the E! show from its inception four years ago, in 2010, until the last episode this past August before her untimely demise. The star had passed away on September 4 at the age of 81 due to complications from a surgical procedure. Griffin added on the interview, "In her honor, I will not be holding back. I am giving no passes, I am going to let people have it, I'm gonna bring the hammer down."

She then found her first celebrity to critique: Jimmy Kimmel. She told him, "You might want to up your game. I'm tired of the same suit every time. I get it. It's Gucci, it fits well -- yawn! Give me some sparkle! Give me a fig leaf! Take a risk for god's sake. Don't just show up again looking nice-ish. Give me something." Next year, on January 12, 2015, Kathy will be making her debut with the style roundtable, leading 17 new episodes of the program with her other co-stars Giuliana Rancic, Kelly osbourne and George Kotsiopoulus.
