Chick-fil-A launched Monday its mobile ordering and payment system. The two new features aim to offer convenience and save time for customers.
The nationwide implementation of the procedure, except in licensed locations, marks the launch of the mobile app. Through the Chick-fil-A app, customers can use mobile payment instead of just using cash or credit.
Customers can download the app available for both Android and iOS. Through the app, users must register first before loading funds into their account through debit or credit card information. They only need to tap the “Pay” button to finalize the payment. To get their orders, they need to scan their Quick Response Code (QR Code) at the drive-thru window or cash register at the nearest branch.
More than 130 Chick-fil-A restaurants in Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. now accept mobile payments. Customers can choose the entrée, side item, sauce and beverage for their orders.
Previous preferences are saved in the app for a faster transaction. Customers can also choose the preferred pick up method. To ensure that they are served fresh food, the orders will only be prepared once the customers click the “check in” button.
Chick-fil-A's leader of digital ordering strategy Khalilah Cooper said, “Mobile ordering is all about giving customers the flexibility and choice to order what they want, when they want it, and how they want it. It’s perfect for any customer who is short on time, and it’s also convenient for families with children who want to customize a large order and avoid standing in line at the front counter.”
The Atlanta-based restaurant started testing the app in 2013. After a successful trial run, it's now available in the App Store, and soon in Google Play. Chick-fil-A hopes to roll out the mobile method in all stores nationwide by 2016.
Ordering through the mobile app is currently not available for breakfast and catering.
