The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release date was originally set on December 8, 2014, however CD Projekt Red announced through an open letter that fans will have to wait a little longer to experience the continuation of The Witcher 2.

According to the developers, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release date delay is mainly due to changes they will have to include as they near the completion of the game. These changes include correcting bugs and making sure that the experience of playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is elevated from its predecessors.

Posted on CD Projekt Red's official site, the open letter read: "Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe."

The letter continued on saying, "The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production.
