Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has always been regarded as one of the NBA superstars ever since he entered the league in 2007. In just a short time, he is already up there with Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. He is a 4-time scoring champion and last year, he won his first MVP award. While he has achieved a lot of individual trophies, his cabinet is still missing a championship trophy. He is already in his seventh season and criticisms are mounting over his lack of championship ring.
This season, Oklahoma City Thunder are in a not so good situation after starting the season without Kevin Durant. Things got worse when Russell Westbrook went down with a hand injury after less than one week. The two has since returned but the criticisms are still there. For Durantula, his only response is "I don't care."
"I really don't give a damn what people got to say," the Oklahoma City Thunder star said in a post by the Washington Post.
"I really don't care if they cut me slack or they don't. I'm not looking for no sympathy from nobody. I'm not looking for no praise from nobody. It's all good, either way with me. I just look for respect from teammates as a player and as a man. That's what I want. All that other stuff, I learned how to tune that stuff out and not worry about. I used to think about it. 'Are they going to cut me slack? Do they love me if I play this way.' I really don't give a damn."
Kevin Durant so far has only made one NBA finals appearance. They battled the big 3 of Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat in the 2012 Finals and lost in five games. After that last game in that championship series, Durant was seen weeping and rushed to the arms of her mother. That scene has made people say that the 26-year old small forward still need some growing up.
He did just that in the next season wherein he captured the season MVP award. However, his team still came up short because of injuries to the team during the playoffs. This season, Kevin Durant and the rest of the Oklahoma City Thunder has a tall mountain to climb as they are sitting at 12th place in the Western Conference standing with a 7-13 record.
