Kate Middleton: Duchess Of Cambridge Kate Middleton Struts In New York In High Heels; Scares People

| By

Five months pregnant, four-inch heels, three dangerous scenarios.

Those are the painful numbers behind the Duchess of Cambridge's insistence on wearing high heels despite having a baby on board.

"The risk of stress fractures, bursitis and capsulitis (inflammed ligaments) are increased when a pregnant woman routinely wears heels," said Dr. Isaac Tabari of the NYC Podiatry Center of Excellence in Midtown. "Pregnant women should not wear high heels every day."

But Kate Middleton has done just that during her trip to New York, strapping on her stilettos for Sunday night's arrival and Monday's visit to a Harlem child development center with New York's version of royalty, First Lady Chirlane McCray.

Plenty of not-so-royal celebrities have had a hard time letting go of their pumps during pregnancy. Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana and Shakira continue to get a rise out of their shoes - and what Kardashian ever let a little belly bump get in the way of looking good?

New York women are in Kate's corner.

"The pregnancy adage is, 'If it feels good and makes you happy, do it,'" said the very pregnant Eva Chen, the editor in chief of Lucky magazine, who wears six-inch Reed Krakoff heels. "I was over six months pregnant while at collections in Paris, London, and Milan and wore heels every day!"

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in New York for the first time ever on Saturday.

They are expecting a new child after having Prince George.

Kate is due to deliver baby in April next year.
