Multiple-Grammy-winning singer Adele announced that she was pregnant the same afternoon that Katie Holmes' divorce from Tom was revealed to the world, so the happy news for the singer went under the radar for a bit over the breaking news.
So much so that Adele is apparently seven months along, and is due to deliver "in two months," confirmed several reports, including U.K.'s Heat World. She is set to give birth in early September, said the report.
"Adele has barely left the house in recent months, so she could keep this to herself for as long as possible," an insider close to the 24-year-old singer has told Heat. "She stopped exercising a few months ago, and since then it's been all about the baby."
Adele made the announcement that she, 24, and boyfriend Simon Knoecki, on June 30 via her official website, stating, "I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon. Yours always, Adele."
In hindsight, several reports stated that her lack of appearances at awards shows, including the Billboard Awards in May, where she won 12 times over, might have been an indicator to the fact that she was taking time off for her family.
She was also seen, according to The Daily Mail, arriving at the Ivor Novello Awards in London a week after the Billboard Awards wearing a very loose-fitting black dress. During the Ivor Novello Awards, Adele completely avoided the press and photo opportunities on the red carpet and went straight into the ceremony, inciting even more rumors about her personal life.
A spokesperson for Adele said they have no further information on her pregnancy. This would be the first child for Adele and Knoecki together, though her boyfriend already has a five-year-old daughter with his ex-wife, Clary Fisher.
