Jessica Jones Netflix series is one of the shows expected to expand Marvels' territory on television. This female-lead superhero show, along with Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, are lined up by the streaming service brand for its original programming list next year. In previous Jessica Jones Netflix series spoiler from Deadline, it was revealed that four young actresses were shortlisted to play the role.
"I hear Marvel is assembling a field of actresses invited to test for the lead of the company's straight-to-series drama Jessica Jones for Netflix. I hear it includes Krysten Ritter, Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer and Jessica De Gouw. All fall within the 25-33 age range listed on the breakdowns for the role," Deadline's Nellie Andreeva wrote back in November 19.
Days after, Andreeva added that Marin Ireland after her show The Divided was canceled.
Fast forward to December, the actress has been chosen and she is someone who was not really the favorite to play Jessica Jones and the less likely to get it because of her previous roles. She is no other than Krysten Ritter.
"Marvel is mum as usual, but I hear they have tapped Krysten Ritter for the lead in the company's straight-to-series drama Jessica Jones. Ritter was one of five actresses who tested for the role. I hear it came down to her and Teresa Palmer, with both doing chemistry reads with The Following's Mike Colter, believed to be the choice for male lead Luke Cage," Deadline wrote in an update.
Among the five shortlisted for the lead role in Jessica Jones Netflix series, Ritter, according to the fans, had the longest shot. Jessica De Gouw guest stars in Arrow as Huntress while Alexandra Daddario did some actions in Percy Jackson series and shocked the entertainment industry for her daring role in hit show True Detective.
Krysten Ritter starred in Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 as Chloe wherein she was nominated for Young Artist Award 2013. She is also known for her role as Jane in multi-awarded AMC drama Breaking Bad.
