The Strain Season 2 release date may not be fixed yet but series developer Guillermo del Toro already has a plan on what the first episode would look like. This scene will be awesome in case you are someone who is getting tired of usual vampire interpretation on TV. This scene will incorporate a wrestling element, just like what was seen on the book.
In an interview with IGN for the The Strain Season 2, the Mexican screenwriter and director hinted that his show, which is based on his novel of the same name, is already working on the first episode for its return next year and it will include a Mexican wrestling reference.
"I'm doing a little part of the first episode back too - the opening sequence. The pre-credit sequence," he said.
"And if you know the books, I'm doing the black and white Mexican wrestler movie. The movie that the guy, the masked wrestler, was a part of in his youth. The Silver Angel. I'm going to shoot that exactly as an old Mexican movie would be. And I'm going to shoot couple of set pieces if I can."
Del Toro did not provide any details regarding the Strain Season 2 release date but he did provide a lot of exciting things that fans can expect from the FX show. One of which is seeing the protagonists embark on a broader journey, which automatically means more danger and gut-wrenching chasing and fighting with vampires.
"Since we're following a group in New York, we're going to get a hint of things happening in other places. You do actually go and see other states. But you'll only hear about the rest of the world," he said on the same interview adding that he will assume a greater role in The Strain Season 2.
"We kind of gave you a clue when Gus realized that the contraband, the containers down at the warf, were being shipped, and that they contain strigoi. And so they're going to other places. Planes are arriving in other places. But we follow it all still from the ground. We see big changes in New York. We start seeing the first few massive attacks. We start seeing the strigoi move in bigger numbers. And we do a couple of things that are very very gruesome that I'd rather not spoil, but I think in the first episode we have a pretty harrowing scene in the first five minutes."
The Strain Season 2 will return with Corey Stoll as Dr. Ephraim "Eph" Goodweather, David Bradley as Professor Abraham Setrakia, Mía Maestro as Dr. Nora Martinez, and Kevin Durand as Vasiliy Fet.
