NBC's "Peter Pan Live!" with "Girls" actress Allison Williams playing the iconic boy who never grew up was met with mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike. Would it have gained better reactions if the "Peter Pan" that Jane Krakowski wanted to portray was used instead?
Funny Or Die released a hilarious clip of the "30 Rock" diva supreme trying out for "Peter Pan Live!" in full outfit (and accent). The video even included the NBC property warning.
So, what would have "Peter Pan" been like if Krakowski was given the chance to portray him?
Based on the video, Krakowski would certainly give the boy from Neverland a (totally) new identity. This includes a slight fear of heights and a not so slight dependence on fairy dust.
"Peter Pan," with Jane Krakowski as the portrayer, would even be open to all kinds of sexual orientations.
"Do Peter and Wendy ever get together? And would that make Peter straight or a lesbian?" She asked the panel at one point. "Cause I'm cool with whatever."
If Peter were to die, that would be no problem. Krakowski would only need some clapping (her version of Tinker Bell's "I believe in fairies" chant) to be alive again.
Hoping that it would land her the role, she also showed off her Tony Award from her portrayal of Carla in "Nine." She even showed off her singing chops right before retrieving the said award which she left behind.
However, despite her efforts, it looked like she didn't impress the show's producers. They decided to cast the "safer" choice, Allison Williams, instead.
The darker, over sexualized Peter Pan that Jane Krakowski was trying to portray would have given the musical a scandalously humorous twist.
