Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes Reach Divorce Settlement: Report

| By

It seems Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's divorce and custody battle won't be so drawn out after all.

Just two weeks after first announcing their divorce, the couple announced this morning that they have quietly and privately reached a settlement and custody agreement of their 6-year-old daughter, Suri, according to E! News.

"The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed," Holmes' attorney said, according to the report.

"We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.

"We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution."

Holmes filed for divorce less than two weeks ago, putting an end to the romance that began in 2005.

No details were offered as to what the settlement entailed. Holmes and Cruise said in a separate statement they focused on protecting daughter Suri, 6.

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents," says the statement from Holmes and Cruise's reps, Nanci Ryder and Amanda Lundberg respectively.
