The biggest MMA card of the year takes place Saturday night in Las Vegas, with UFC 148 headlined the UFC middleweight title rematch between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Chael Sonnen.
Sonnen dominated Silva for nearly five rounds in their first fight before succumbing to a late triangle armbar submission.
Sonnen has talked trash nonstop for years about Silva and an angry Silva lashed out verbally at Sonnen earlier in the week. The grudge match has led to UFC's highest grossing Las Vegas event ever.
Anderson Silva vowed to get his revenge on Sonnen who has previously tormented and disrespected him. Silva kept his promise to payback Sonnen for all he's had to put up from him, landing a hard body shot in the second round that led to a TKO victory.
However, the knee strike that set up the second-round TKO stoppage -- one that initially appeared to hit Sonnen's head illegally -- instead landed legally to the chest, and Silva avenged the only real blemish of his record-setting UFC career.
The title fight headlined Saturday's sold-out UFC 148 event, which aired on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
"Chael fought me and I fought Chael," said Silva, who improved to 32-4 after successfully defending his 185-pound title for a UFC-record 10th time. "This is a sport. I have nothing against Chael.
"If you [Chael] would like to have a barbecue at my house, I'd like to have you over."
"He gave me an opportunity," Sonnen said. "He didn't owe me anything. He's a great champion.
"He got me with a good knee."
