The Suicide Squad movie cast has finally been identified and it will be headed by top-billed stars. In a report by Variety, it is revealed that Jared Leto will play the Joker, Will Smith as Dead Shot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Margot Robbie as Harley Queen, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. These names were the ones that came up in rumors the moment Warner Bros. announced that there will be a movie about DC Comics' fictional villain organization.
The cast for Suicide Squad movie is not yet complete so expect more names to be dropped in the coming weeks, like Oprah Winfrey. Yes, you read that right. The media mogul is one of those being considered for a key role in the movie. However, the competition for that role is a bit tough as she is up against another great actress, Viola Davis of one of fall's biggest shows How to Get Away with Murder.
According to Variety, Oprah Winfrey, who has won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film The Color Purple, is being considered for the Amanda Waller role. Waller is a powerful antagonist and sometime-ally of the superheroes of the DC universe. She will be in charged of the Suicide Squad when the group goes into its mission.
"Warners still has the role of Amanda Waller, the character who oversees the team (similar to Nick Fury in the Marvel universe), to cast before the film goes into production. The studio's shortlist of actresses being eyed for the role includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey, whom sources say would be WB's first choice for the part," Variety wrote.
It would be a long shot to have Oprah in Suicide Squad movie cast given the fact that Amanda Waller is someone who is ruthless and murderous, a far cry from her image in real life.
Other guys being considered for the Suicide Squad movie cast is Jesse Eisenberg who might reprise his role as Lex Luthor in upcoming DC movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
