Naughty Dog have confirmed their interest to return in the Last of Us universe. A world that catches you within the first 15 minutes and one that mesmerized you as it goes on, though, they refused to guarantee another game will happen.
The Last of Us is a zombie apocalypse action sequel that follows anti-hero Joel as he crosses the country protecting the one person who could bring the world back from the apocalypse, teenager Ellie.
The remastered version of the game created by Creative Director Neil Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley, launched on the Sony PS4 with improved near-photo realistic visuals in August.
And after collecting the awards as Best Storytelling and Best Gaming Moment categories at Joysticks Awards, on behalf of the guys of Naughty Dog, SCE Marketing Director Murray Pannell gave a quick update towards a possible The Last Of US sequel:
"The emotional attachment to the characters is really important and the story arc was very engaging and I think it was clear the studio put in a lot of time and effort into making sure it was engaging.
"There is nothing to be said about the next game, if there will-or-won't be another game.
"We are really enjoying The Last of Us, there is a lot of DLC that has already been announced, along with the PS3 version with the additional content coming out at Christmas."
"So Stay tuned for any news on whether there is going to be a sequel coming out for it."
Previously, Druckmann said, "If you're asking about a sequel ... Right now I'd say it's 50/50".
The Last Of Us 2 PS4 release is speculated to be in 2016.
In other news, Black Friday 2014 offers a rare bundle for Sony which includes GTA V remastered and The Last of Us remastered just for only $400.
