Large-Size Apple iPad Specs And Features Leaked

| By

Japanese magazine Mac Fan has leaked specs and information about the large-size Apple iPad that is scheduled for an upcoming release.

"Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is working to shake up the iPad line. Sales of the tablets, which are Apple's second-biggest product by revenue after the iPhone, have declined for two straight quarters amid a lack of new models and as consumers have instead gravitated to smartphones with bigger screens," Bloomberg wrote in a report earlier this year.

"Apple's suppliers recently started manufacturing an updated 9.7-inch screen iPad, and were also set to enter production of a new version of the iPad mini, people familiar with the plans have said, with the devices set to be available later this year in time for the holiday season."

The 12.2-inch touch screen device, which is set for a 2015 release date, will be slightly thicker than the iPad Air 2, Business Insider reports.

Additionally, the new device is said to include an updated A9 chip serving as the successor to the A8X processor in current versions of the product.

Online rumors have suggested that Apple will also release an iPad mini 4 alongside the large device. April and June of 2015 are slated as the likely release date months for the large Apple iPad.

The increased thickness and width of the product corresponds with recent efforts made by competitor companies to release tablet-size products, which have sparked in popularity in recent years.
