It has been a remarkable year to date for the now world's top 3 smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi. The Chinese tech giant has made a whole lot of new records surpassing its goals and forecasts in terms of revenue and the number of units it aims to release for this year. Having held numerous flash sales and product launches outside China, Xiaomi has just begun scratching the surface of what could be their market potential all over the globe.
Reports said that the company planned on expanding to 10 markets by the end of 2014 but because of the greater attention needed on the continually growing market in India and Indonesia, Xiaomi is now taking time in expanding to nearby and Western countries.
"Earlier this year, we talked about wanting to be in 10 markets within 2014," Xiaomi's Vice President for International Operations Hugo Barra mentioned to CNET. "We realized that it's a smarter thing to do to scale back a bit and put a ton of effort in India and Indonesia before expanding further." VP Barra added, "Our focus is to add market by market, one at a time, and to focus on bringing all of our products to each of those markets before we add a new one."
We think that was a very wise move from the company. Xiaomi is indeed living up to the saying "slow is fast." After all, it need not hurry introducing its products to other countries and even coming up with new ones since almost, if not all, of its devices have been selling like hotcakes! In India alone, the company's low-cost high-quality handsets are always out of stock no matter how many flash sales it conducts.
Meanwhile, Barra has confirmed that the Chinese company is currently planning launches in countries like Thailand, Turkey and Mexico next year. He also noted that his home country Brazil is Xiaomi's next market to tap on happening 1st half of 2015.
